Caw of the Crow Primitives and a Polka Dotted Owl

It's that time of year
when the frost is on the pumpkin
and the leaves turn beautiful colors.

Autumn!

The foliage has been losing its freshness
through the month of August,
and here and there a yellow leaf shows itself
like the first gray hair amidst the locks
of a beauty who has seen one season too many.
~Oliver Wendell Holmes
With warm sunny days,
and crisp and cool nights,
I feel a creative stirring in my soul,
and anxiously begin decorating for the holidays.

Gretchen Waggoner caught my eye
a few years ago with her
beautiful one-of-a-kind primitives.
I always looked forward to her new
creations on Lemon Poppy Seeds
an online primitives shop.

She recently joined forces with
Ashley Vogele to form an Etsy shop called
"a nest full of whimsy and primitive collections"

To learn more about Gretchen
please check out her blog
where she shares her work,
and devotion to her family.

Thank you for visiting!
Happy Fall to you and yours!

Cleaning out the cobwebs

It's been some time since
I have posted to this blog.
I decided to dust out the cobwebs,
and cleaned out the spam comments.
(sooo many opportunists out there).

Perhaps the title of the this blog is
attractive to those particular spammers....
It's a shame there is always someone
lurking to spoil the fun.
I will remove the "comments option"
if it continues...
but I have decided to continue this blog
due to the positive support,
and increased followers.
Thank you for that.
The Ditty Bag WILL be back soon!

Cinnamon Creek Cabin has a blog!

Recently, I happened to stumble upon a new site called
A Fine Farmhouse.
Once again, I found the work from an artist
I consider the real deal, when it comes to primitives.

Located in Centertown Kentucky

You may recognize Dru A. McCarty from
Cinnamon Creek Cabin
,
featured here back in December 2007.
I was delighted to see she now has a blog,
and received her permission to announce it!

She writes that she has been sewing, stuffing,
stitching, painting, and grubbing like a mad woman!
She shares her thoughts and photos of her past creations.

I get the feeling she doesn't realize how
genuinely talented she is!
That is what I mean by the "real deal".
She is such a natural at what she does,
and she instills so much inspiration in me.

I could fill my entire home with her creations.

Congratulations are in order,
for winning the
One Year Anniversary Giveaway
from Doreen Frost of
Vermont Harvest Folk Art
(another one of my most favorite talented artists)

She has won a very sweet little sleepy blackened
beeswax mouse resting atop a reproduction Civil War
fabric covered mache box filled with Sweet Annie Seeds.

American Folk Art from the hands of
Dru A. McCarty

Thank you for visiting the Ditty Bag~
